Last year I heard an ad on the radio for Adams Avenue Unplugged. I didn’t put too much thought into it, except I do remember thinking that that event may be good for selling Grey Theory wares. Well, I signed up to be on their email list and when it came around this year, I decided to sign up. To soften the booth fee blow, I asked Leak of My Huckleberry Handmade if she’d be interested in splitting a booth…the rest is now history The short version is that event was a success and we both did very well!!
The long version goes a little something like this:
The days were long and hot…with Saturday being much hotter than Sunday.
Set up began at 8am and I can’t even imagine how long it would have taken me to set up if I would have flown solo. Having a booth partner (who happens to be your good friend) really cut the time in half and made the experience a lot more manageable. I’ll have to be honest though, it was a ton of work to set up…and slightly disheartening that it would have to be packed away so quick. Leah had a good point, she said that you pick a handful of big shows a year and leave it at that.
Aside from that, our booth was a hit!
I had designed and made a hole-in-the head photo prop consisting of a strong man and a lion. It was a marketing strategy and surprisingly only one person called us out on it. As I said, “he saw right through it ”
Other than that, and getting quite the sunburned chest, it was a great event. We sent home many happy individuals, both customers and photo-takers Lots of friends came and visited us and one friend in particular decided to interview us!! I’m pretty distracted throughout the interview, but it gets the job done!!
Much thanks to Chris Cretin of The Syndicate for saying hi and doing such an awesome interview with us!!
Watch it here for yourself
Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned for a belated (slaps forehead) post on an art show I was apart of!!
